Matthew is an experimental photographer operating a studio from Deptford Foundry. Using his research in mythology,  queer cinema and history, he stages and photographs productions of cinematic moments and narrative tension.

Within his images he engineers symbolic references to enrich the narrative text and visual aesthetic to create a distinct postmodern perspective.

Matthew read for a First Class Honours in Illustration at Norwich University of the Arts in 2015. Afterwards, over the next two years he took part in the Artist in Residence scheme at King Edwards School Witley, building his portfolio and teaching prospective students in Visual Art, Photography and Printmaking. During that time he curated his first solo show in London titled ‘Lost in the Shadows’ which was met with very positive reviews.

Matthew was accepted to study at the Royal College of Art in Visual Communication: Illustration, graduating in the Summer of 2019. That same summer he was shortlisted for the Lumen Prize’s Photo-Monitor award.

Outside of his artistic practice he offers his services as a commercial photographer, retoucher, guest lecturer and critic.
